Goodwill planning Miller Lane store

Goodwill Easter Seals Miami Valley will tear down a steak house on Miller Lane that it purchased and build a new retail thrift store on the site.

Melissa Fowler, the charitable agency’s spokeswoman, confirmed the purchase Thursday. The location at 6868 Miller Lane in Butler Twp. was the site of the Lone Star Steakhouse.

Goodwill paid $1.4 million for the building and 1.7 acre lot, purchasing it Thursday from Frick & Frack LLC, according to Montgomery County property records.

The retail store could open by fall of next year, Fowler said.

The restaurant building would be torn down and Goodwill would build a 15,000-square-foot store in its place. About 24 full and part-time employees could work at the store.

Goodwill broke ground for a new retail thrift store in Huber Heights in October.

Goodwill, which serves a 23-county area, has 27 retail thrift stores, an online store, and an auto auction.

Goodwill Easter Seals Miami Valley is headquartered at 660 S. Main St. The nonprofit specializes in serving children and adults with autism spectrum disorder and other disabilities or special needs, according to its website. Major services include medical rehabilitation, employment training and children’s and adult programs.
