Grismer expanding in new Beavercreek location

Demolition will begin in two weeks to pave the way for two related construction projects on North Fairfield Road near Beaver-Vu Drive that will relocate and expand a Grismer Tire & Auto Center and later will add a new Advance Auto Parts store.

“Beavercreek is a great market for us, and we outgrew the location we were in,” said John Marshall, Grismer Tire’s co-owner who oversees the Dayton-based chain’s retail stores. “This project will take care of that.”

Grismer’s current location at 1205 N. Fairfield Road will remain open until its new, larger location just up the street at 1187 N. Fairfield Road is complete next spring or summer, Marshall said. After Grismer departs its current space, that building will be replaced by a new Advance Auto Parts store, Marshall and Beavercreek city officials said.

The new 7,800-square-foot Grismer building will double the number of service bays of the existing car-repair center, and employment will double to as many as 12, Marshall said.

The new Advance Auto Parts store is tentatively scheduled to open next August, company spokeswoman Shelly Whitaker said Wednesday. “We are opening stores across the country as part of our strategic growth plan,” Whitaker said.

Each Advance Auto Parts store typically employs 12 people, she said. The company operates 17 stores across the region, including stores in New Carlisle, Franklin and Middletown.

Both the Grismer and the Advance Auto Parts projects have been approved by Beavercreek City Council, according to Sandra Pereira, associate city planner for Beavercreek’s planning and zoning department.

According to Greene County property records, the 1.8-acre tract at 1205 N. Fairfield Road that includes the existing Grismer center sold for $650,000 last week to a Knoxville investment company that will develop the site for Advance Auto Parts.

The nearly one-acre tract at 1187 N. Fairfield Road was purchased by Grismer Tire in August for $425,000.
