Highfield Door Sales to celebrate remodeled location

Highfield Door Sales will host a ribbon cutting Wednesday to celebrate its newly remodeled location at 1350 E. Stroop Road in Kettering.

Highfield Door Sales, a growing Kettering family business that specializes in residential and commercial garage door sales and service, relocated to the 20,000-square-foot site on East Stroop Road in 2012. Previously, the company leased a 1,700-square-foot building on Wilmington Pike.

The firm’s current location most recently was known as That Big Drive Thru, and was constructed in 1959 as a roller skating rink. Owner Rodney Highfield said he spent $100,000 on renovations. The purchase price was $235,000.

Highfield, who lives in Kettering, started installing garage doors in 1987. He launched the firm in May 1995 with one worker, expanded in 2006 after taking a buyout from General Motors’ Moraine assembly plant, and recently hired his eighth employee.

“We are creating jobs in our community,” Highfield said.

Kettering city officials are scheduled to attend the ribbon cutting event at 10 a.m. Wednesday.
