Home sales prices continue upward climb in Dayton area

Median home sales prices once again showed year-over-year increases in the Dayton area.

The median sale price of a home in the area reached $155,000 last month, a jump of 3.3 percent over the same month of 2018. The average sales price also boosted 4.3 percent to $178,464. More than $284.6 million was spent cumulatively on the 1,595 homes sold, according to a statement from the Dayton Realtors.

The cumulative sale price growth was 1 percent, despite a 3.1 percent decrease in the number of homes sold from August last year, the release said.

So far this year, the average median home price has increased 6 percent over the first eight months of 2018.

“Tight inventory continued in the Dayton area as listings submitted in the month of August posted a decrease of 7 percent from last year to 1,964 entries,” according to the statement. “For the January-August period, 14,552 listings were entered, down from last year’s 15,054 listings.”
