Huber Heights fitness center celebrates grand opening today

Planet Fitness, a low-cost fitness center chain, is celebrating its grand opening in Huber Heights today.

Huber Heights officials, including Mayor Tom McMasters, will host a ribbon-cutting ceremony at 4 p.m. on Wednesday. The new center, which has already opened, is located at 7651 Old Troy Pike in Waynetown Plaza next to Kroger.

“We’re thrilled to bring our Judgement Free fitness experience to Huber Heights, and we encourage everyone to come check out the new club, meet our friendly staff, get a tour and see what the Judgement Free Zone is all about,” said Matt Glance, Planet Fitness franchisee, in a statement.

Planet Fitness will present $2,500 to the Boys & Girls Club of Dayton at the celebration. Danni Allen, the winner of the 14th season of reality television show “The Biggest Loser” will also be in attendance.

The center is nearly 19,000 square feet, and its exercise inventory includes cardio machines, strength equipment, locker rooms with day lockers and showers and flat-screen televisions.

The club is open 24 hours, seven days per week. Planet Fitness has more than 1,200 locations in 47 states. There are already two locations in the area at 4892 Airway Road in Dayton and 705 Lyons Road in Centerville.
