The Kettering Planning Commission approved a final development plan for the restaurant in August, although Piada officials said at the time there was some uncertainty whether the project would go forward. But the company has signed a contract to lease the land and is moving ahead with construction plans, Dauer said. The new Piada will be built on the southwest corner of Ohio 48 and Villa North Drive in front of The Arbor shopping center, just south of an existing Chipotle restaurant.
Dauer said Piada intends to open a third restaurant in the Dayton area, but the location has not been determined.
The first Dayton-area Piada that opened in October at 1047 Miamisburg-Centerville Road in Washington Twp. “has been very, very busy,” Dauer said.
“The Dayton area has been very welcoming to us,” the Piada spokeswoman said.
The Piada concept, featuring custom-rolled wraps, pasta bowls and salads, is the brainchild of Chris Doody, co-founder of the Bravo and Brio Italian restaurant chains. Doody said in March that he chose the Dayton area as the first expansion of Piada outside of the Columbus area because the Dayton area “has been a great market for Brio and Bravo.”
