Headquartered in Ontario, Canada, Pet Valu is the third largest pet specialty chain in North America, with nearly 620 stores in Canada and the U.S.
Jack’s Pets’ 33 stores in Ohio, Indiana and Northern Kentucky will become the Midwest operations for Pet Valu. The company’s 100,000-square-foot corporate office and distribution center in Beavercreek will become Pet Valu’s Midwest region headquarters, Brenner said.
Brenner will become vice president of Pet Valu’s Midwest operations. His brother, Chris Brenner, will be the company’s senior director of e-commerce.
Scott Brenner said Jack’s Pets was seeking a partnership to grow the company at a faster pace.
“This allowed for us to have the capital to expand, especially in this region, while allowing all of our employees to stay on, and even creating additional roles for future employment options in this area,” Brenner said.
The company plans to expand to 100 Jack’s Pets stores in Ohio and surrounding states over the next three to four years, he said.
Jack’s Pets was founded in 1950 as a family-owned business. PetSolutions.com was launched in 1996.
Pet Valu is owned by Roark Capital Group, an Atlanta-based private equity firm whose current portfolio companies include Arby’s, CKE Restaurants, Batteries Plus Bulbs and Atkins Nutritionals.
