Kettering company wins part of $35M aviation parts contract

A Kettering manufacturer is one of seven firms to share a $35 million U.S. Navy machined parts contract, the Department of Defense said.

Starwin Industries Inc. in Kettering joins Garrity Tool Co. LLC, of Indianapolis; Loughmiller Machine, Tool & Design Inc., of Loogootee, Ind.; D-J Engineering Inc., of Augusta, Kansas; MSP Aviation Inc., of Bloomington, Ind. and Integrity Defense Services Inc., of Springville, Ind.; and Middletown Composites Inc., of Berea, Ky. in the contract.

The Pentagon said the businesses were awarded a combined aggregate not-to-exceed $35,000,000 multiple-award contract with a five-year ordering period to procure machined parts or composite components in support of supplies related to aircraft components.

The contract leaves room to grow. The Pentagon said these seven small businesses will have the chance to propose on individual delivery orders throughout a five-year ordering period of the indefinite-delivery/indefinite-quantity contract.

Work will be performed at each of the contractors’ facilities and is expected to be completed in April 2024.

The percentage breakdown of the work has not been determined, the DoD said.

This contract was competitively procured via the Federal Business Opportunities website, with eight offers received. The Naval Surface Warfare Center, in Crane, Ind., is the contracting activity.
