Roy Chew, president of Kettering Health Network since 2015, is retiring in a little over two weeks, the network said Tuesday.

“I am so thankful for the opportunity to have worked with Roy over the years,” Fred Manchur, chief executive of Kettering Health Network, said in an announcement. “Roy’s innovative approach and passion for the very best clinical technology, married with a faith-based approach to caring for our community, exemplifies Kettering Health Network’s legacy of excellence in health care.”

Chew joined Kettering Medical Center in 1976 where he served as clinical coordinator for the department of respiratory therapy, vice president of human resources and vice president of professional services for the non-nursing patient care and clinical departments, among other roles.

In 1999, Chew was named president of Grandview and Southview medical centers following the hospitals’ merger with Kettering Medical Center.

He helped establish Montgomery County’s first federally qualified health center (the Community Health Centers of Greater Dayton) and the Victor Cassano Health Center, the network said. He also helped establish Kettering Health Network’s first series of primary care-based outpatient centers.

In 2009 Chew was appointed president of Kettering Medical Center. In that time, the hospital opened a Level II trauma center; transitioned to a Level III B neonatal intensive care unit and initiated plans for the Kettering Cancer Center.

His retirement will be effective Feb. 15, the company said.

Kettering Health Network is a not-for-profit network of eight hospitals, 10 emergency departments, and 120 outpatient facilities serving southwest Ohio.
