Kettering Medical Center named among the country’s top hospitals

Kettering Medical Center has been named one of the nation’s 100 Top Hospitals by Truven Health Analytics, the Ann Arbor, Mich.-based spinoff of Thomson Reuters’ healthcare business.

It was the ninth time Truven has recognized Kettering as one of the top hospitals in the country, based on its evaluation of the hospital’s performance in 10 areas: mortality, medical complications, patient safety, average patient stay, expenses, profitability, patient satisfaction, adherence to clinical standards of care, post-discharge mortality, and readmission rates for heart attack, heart failure and pneumonia.

Truven researchers evaluated 2,922 short-term, acute care, non-federal hospitals, using public information from the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services, among other sources.

The hospitals on the list did not apply for recognition and do not pay to include the Top 100 honor in their marketing materials.

The winning hospitals were announced in the Feb. 25 edition of Modern Healthcare magazine.
