A new store opening in Kettering will offer overstock items at discounts, but owner Sean Gray’s main goal is to support and promote local businesses.
Second Look Products, which opens at 3858 Wilmington Pike on Thursday, is currently stock full of primary Nike, Under Armour and Adidas gear, cooking equipment, plenty of children's toys and more. Depending on the category the item falls under, the store offers up to 70 percent off of the Amazon retail price, and all items have some form of discount.
But Gray, a third-party Amazon seller, emphasizes that store stock will change frequently, depending on what is available from his sellers, and that his current supply is just “a drop in the bucket” compared to what he has planned for the store.
“I want to be able to give people a good product that’s not full retail price,” he said. “We’re currently just scratching the surface, but I really think this will be a benefit both for the 200 million Amazon sellers and for the local community.”
He is having an interface built on the store’s website where customers will be able to set up a free account and make a list of items they’re looking for; if and when that item comes through the store, they’ll be notified and can come pick it up.
Gray, who grew up in Kettering and moved back after attending Ohio State University,wants to work with local and statewide craft and artisan vendors to sell their products, and encourages interested vendors to contact the store.
A grand opening is planned for Thursday at 11 a.m.; patrons will be entered to win a $250 gift card with any purchase.
