BEAVERCREEK — One-stop shopping is the phrase the Kroger Marketplace at 5165 Dayton-Xenia Road hopes to sell to customers.

“You’ve always been able to get your light bulbs at Kroger,” said Rachael Betzler, Kroger’s public relations manager. “Now you can get the lamp to go with it.”

The grand opening of the Miami Valley’s second Marketplace is at 7 a.m. today with a ribbon-cutting at 8 a.m.

At 133,000 square feet, the store is nearly double the size of a standard Kroger and brought 225 jobs to Beavercreek. Specialty areas plus a department store-like product range are the selling points.

“Our customers are happy to have our new store in the community,” said Geoff Covert, president of Kroger’s Cincinnati/Dayton division. “This is a beautiful new store. We’ve added products, both every day and specialty, the customers want and are looking for.”

Kroger opened its first Marketplace in Englewood in 2007.

Betzler said the Beavercreek location has two features not at the Englewood store. There is an expanded Baby Aisle with clothes, cribs and strollers and a Fred Meyer Jewelry store.

Other features:

• Full-service meat department, fresh produce, wine, floral departments, olive bar, sushi bar and products .

• Deserts designed in the bakery and pastry shop, including a chocolate fountain.

• Murray’s Cheese store, an off-shoot of the New York City location.

• Boar’s Head deli meats, Starbucks coffee.

• Dinnerware, stemware, cookware, small appliances, furniture, bedding and bath accessories, vacuums, toys and school and office supplies.
