Limited Stores has announced more than 240 employees will lose their jobs at the company’s headquarters in a Columbus suburb.

The company alerted the Ohio Department of Job and Family Services of the 248 layoffs at the New Albany headquarters and said they could start as early as today.

The Limited has store locations at The Greene Town Center and Liberty Center.

Florida-based Sun Capital Partners has owned the specialty retailer since 2007 when the private-equity firm bought the chain from L Brands, according to the Columbus Dispatch.

Last month, the owners said they were exploring the possibility of selling the chain. In a letter to the associates this week, the privately-held company said its results for the most recent quarter were disappointing, the Dispatch reported.

The company said it is considering bids from potential buyers and it is hopeful that any buyer would continue the company operations, but there are no assurances that will happen.

The Limited, which offers “upscale” branded women’s clothing, has 243 stores throughout the U.S.
