Lion First Responder is hiring for 75 full-time jobs at its new Dayton manufacturing facility.

The company that manufactures first responder personal protective equipment will pay an average $24,500 to 75 full-time workers it plans to hire over the next three years. The Vandalia-headquartered manufacturing company invested $1.7 million to acquire the facility at 66 Janney Road.

Employees of the center will manufacture traditional firefighter turnouts and chemical, biological, radiological and nuclear defense ensembles. It’s proximity to the Vandalia headquarters will also offer collaboration with the group’s product management team on Poe Avenue.

“We are very excited to bring new apparel manufacturing jobs to the City of Dayton,” said Steve Schwartz, Lion president and CEO. “This new facility will greatly enhance LION’s existing manufacturing capacity and allow us to continue to improve production and delivery times to meet our customer’s expectations.

The company evaluated other areas for the new facility, but determined Dayton to be the best option, Schwartz said.

In 2013, this newspaper reported that Lion has about 1,000 employees worldwide, including about 130 locally. The company reported having annual revenues north of $100 million.

Anyone interested in the jobs can contact the facility directly at 937-233-3540.

There will be a grand opening from 1 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. Wednesday at the 55,000 square-foot facility. Tours will be available.
