Local family-owned company celebrates 75 years in business

Passed down through generations of a family, a local company is celebrating 75 years in business this month.

Beavercreek-based Phillips Companies is hosting an open house at its office to celebrate its anniversary. The celebration is a joint event along with the Beavercreek Chamber of Commerce and the Dayton Homebuilders Association. The event will have a variety of equipment on display along with food, pictures and memories from the past 75 years.

The business was founded back in 1942 by Frank Phillips, starting with just a gravel pit and a single truck. Now, the company has several businesses: Phillips Sand & Gravel, Phillips Ready Mix, Excavating, Land Improvement Center, and Trucking.

The company has seven family members actively involved in operations.

Phillips manufactures construction materials like sand, gravel, stone, ready mix concrete, landscape soils, sports turfs mixes and a variety of landscaping supplies. Phillips also provides construction services such as: excavating, road construction, site development, truck delivery, and concrete pumping.

The business is located at 620 Phillips Drive in Beavercreek.
