Owner Dave Becker said demand for inventory, including firearms and non-lethal devices like pepper spray, accessories, and ammo, have caused the business to outgrow its current location.
“Since the first quarter of this year, we’ve had an overall increase in inventory of 55 to 60 percent,” Becker said.
The increased demand for firearms and accessories is due to two main factors, according to Becker.
“Last year the Ohio Department of Natural Resources expanded deer hunting opportunities to encompass a more diverse range of firearms. Also, Wright Patterson Air Force Base’s trap and skeet contest has gained popularity with local sportsman’s clubs,” Becker said.
The remodeling is still underway, but will be completed in the next few weeks.
“My intention is to have the expanded store open a couple days before Labor Day,” said Becker, who was a seed investor in the business and bought the company earlier this year.
His plans to expand The Miami Armory don’t stop with this. He’s looking to grow again in three to four years.
“Then I’ll be looking to add 10,000 square feet for indoor shooting ranges,” Becker said.
