Local Old Time Pottery store to close

Old Time Pottery said Wednesday, Dec. 2, it plans to shutter its Dayton-area store as part of a wider reorganization as the Tennessee retailer works its way out of bankruptcy.

The Murfreesboro, Tenn.-based retailer said a liquidation sale would be held at the 651 Lyons Road store and seven others in the chain. The sale, which will be managed by Hudson Capital Partners LLC, will begin Dec. 3 and will last eight weeks, the company said in a news release.

The announcement marks a reversal for the company from August, when executives said they planned to keep all 37 stores open.

Dayton is the only Ohio store slated for closure. The company also has stores in Cincinnati, Columbus and Cleveland.

The retailer said it also has targeted stores in Georgia, Illinois, North Carolina, Oklahoma and Tennessee.

The company, which filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection in August, said in in a statement it will continue to operate 29 stores.
