Macy’s launches international e-commerce venture

NEW YORK — Department store operator Macy’s today said it has launched international shipping on its e-commerce site, macys.com.

The retailer, which operates two stores in the Dayton area, said it will ship to 91 countries in Africa, Asia, Australia, the Caribbean, Europe, the Middle East, North and South America.

Macy’s said it has partnered with FiftyOne, a provider of e-commerce services and infrastructure to U.S. retailers, in the venture.

“International shipping will enable Macy’s to build upon its existing customer base beyond the United States by exposing our product offerings abroad,” Kent Anderson, president of macys.com, said in a news release.

Last year, shoppers from outside U.S. borders made up 36 million visits to macys.com, Anderson said.

Macy’s has stores at The Mall at Fairfield Commons in Beavercreek and the Dayton Mall in Miami Twp., Montgomery County.
