Midmark buys kennel manufacturer

A medical and veterinary equipment company based at Austin Landing has purchased a Lebanon animal care products business.

Midmark Corp. has acquired Mason Company, an animal boarding and kennel manufacturing business with locations in Leesburg and Lebanon.

“The acquisition adds to Midmark’s growing portfolio and expands the company’s ability to work closely with our channel partners and customers in animal health to create a better care experience for pets and their owners,” Midmark said in a statement.

Terms of the acquisition were not disclosed. But Midmark said the purchase helps it secure “solutions designed for comfortable and aesthetic accommodations for long-term boarding of companion animals.”

“We are extremely excited to welcome Mason Company to the Midmark family,” John Baumann, president and chief executive of Midmark, said in the company’s announcement.“The expertise Mason brings to Midmark enhances our position to design better care environments for our customers,” he said.

“It also strengthens Midmark’s position as a leader of the animal health space that continues to bring our customers innovative solutions and new ideas as they strive to improve the quality of care.”

Mason’s products dovetail with what Midmark called the “fear-free trend that is prevalent in the animal health space.”

“Fear-free certified practices promote quiet and calming environments by carefully considering the workflow and the acute senses of the animal patients, fostering better outcomes for pets and their owners,” Midmark said.

With some 2,000 employees worldwide, Austin Landing-based Midmark has about 1,000 employees in Miami Twp. and Versailles. The business has grown from 700 employees in 2008 to about 2,000 today, across 12 locations.
