Montgomery County has already recorded more real estate sales during 2018 than any year on record, the county auditor told more than 70 local government officials Thursday morning at an annual update.

Valid residential home sales in 2018 just through November soared to 8,462, shooting 19 percent higher than 2016’s total 7,125 and above the previous high year, 2005, which saw 7,710.

“As you can see we’ve blown out our all-time high, as far as we know, as far as I can remember during my tenure,” Keith said.

Keith said sales in Dayton and several other communities where the market was slower to rebound following the Great Recession and housing market collapse showed the most dramatic increases – above 50 percent, Keith said.

“We were very impressed with last year’s numbers,” he said. “So the real estate market is booming.”
