New 350,000-square-foot plant proposed for Lewisburg

Pratt Industries Inc., a leading recycling firm and corrugated packaging maker, plans to open a 350,000-square-foot corrugating manufacturing plant in Lewisburg in Preble County, according to documents obtained by the Dayton Daily News.

The same project was approved July 29 by Ohio Tax Credit Authority to receive a 65 percent, 10-year Job Creation Tax Credit, an income tax abatement. Lewisburg is in competition for the project site. If the project moves forward here, the company is committed to create 140 new jobs to receive the financial incentives.

Pratt is working with the Warren County Port Authority on construction of the plant.

Pratt already has one plant in Lewisburg — Lewisburg Container, at 275 W. Clay St. Pratt also operates a corrugating plant in Springfield and an office in Mason, according to the company’s website.

Under the proposed agreement with the Port Authority, Pratt would build the new plant and convey it to the port authority, which would then lease it back to Pratt.

The board of Warren County Port Authority will vote on the agreement at its 5 p.m. meeting today.

The Warren County Port Authority and Preble County Development Partnership reached in the last month a cooperative agreement for economic development.
