New Fricker’s coming to Ohio 741 near Dayton Mall

Fricker’s will open a new restaurant in the former Lone Star Steakhouse space at 251 N. Springboro Pike (Ohio 741) near the Dayton Mall in Miamisburg next spring, a spokesman for the Miamisburg- based restaurant chain said this afternoon.

The new restaurant will employ more than 100, according to Jim Manley, Fricker’s marketing manager. The seating capacity hasn’t been determined yet, but plans call for adding a patio to the existing structure, Manley said. The 5,400-square-foot space has been empty for two years, since Lone Star abruptly closed both its Miller Lane and Miamisburg locations on Nov. 6, 2012.

Manley said Fricker’s officials were attracted to the traffic that flows in and out of the businesses on Mall Woods Drive — including Best Buy, Home Depot and Rave Cinemas Dayton South. And Fricker’s officials wanted to open a new location in proximity to their original flagship Fricker’s farther north on Ohio 741 in West Carrollton, which burned to the ground in 2008 on a tract where a Dollar General store is now under construction.

“We had a very loyal clientele at our West Carrollton location, and we think we’ll get some of our former customers to come back,” Manley said.

Fricker’s operates 24 restaurants, from Mason, Ohio north to Adrian, Michigan, and is talking with potential franchisees about opening in new markets outside Ohio, Manley said.
