The 6,139-square-foot Sheetz will offer a 515-square-foot outdoor dining area, a drive-thru for its restaurant and eight double-sided fuel terminals. The new business was constructed on the site of an Ethan Allen furniture store that was demolished earlier this year after 40 years in business.
In 2022, Sheetz announced plans to open 20 new stores in western Ohio in a five-year span. With the Washington Twp. location, the company will have opened nine stores in the Dayton-Springfield area in just over a year — two in Huber Heights, plus stores in Springfield, Vandalia, Fairborn, Springboro, Beavercreek and Franklin. A second Beavercreek store is under construction.
Plans for Sheetz stores in Centerville and Kettering were rejected by city officials there last fall, although the company has sued Centerville over that city’s decision.
At the Washington Twp. Sheetz on Tuesday, there will be a grand prize giveaway of a $2,500 Sheetz gift card. The store will offer free self-serve coffee and soda all day.
Sheetz said it will donate $2,500 each to the Special Olympics of Ohio, and to The Foodbank Inc.. The chain says customers who donate a non-perishable food item to the Foodbank at Sheetz on Tuesday will receive one Sheetz-branded item while supplies last from 9 to 11 a.m.
Founded in 1952, Sheetz operates more than 750 stores across Maryland, Michigan, North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Virginia and West Virginia. All locations are open 24 hours a day, seven days a week, 365 days a year.
