From PUCO Chairman Asim Haque:
“Today’s decision is notable due to the settlement’s wide range of support, including environmental and customer advocates. Going forward, DP&L’s rates will reflect what it now costs to provide distribution service to its customers, which includes a reconciliation of rates to reflect the utility’s reduced tax obligation to the federal government.”
From Molly McGuire, spokesperson for Ohio Consumers’ Counsel Bruce Weston:
“Today Dayton-area consumers got an electric bill increase of about $2.64 monthly on average. But kudos go to DP&L for agreeing to reduce its proposed rate increase by more than half, in negotiations with the Ohio Consumers’ Counsel, PUCO staff and others.”
1:30 PM:
Members of the Public Utilities Commission of Ohio Wednesday afternoon unanimously approved higher DP&L rates to cover the utility’s distribution investments.
A voice vote was taken before comments on the rates were read during a PUCO meeting in Columbus. There was no commission discussion of the rates.
A PUCO spokesman said a press release on the vote would be forthcoming later Wednesday.
EARLIER TODAY:
The Public Utilities Commission of Ohio (PUCO) will take up DP&L’s distribution rate case in its 1:30 p.m. meeting today.
If the PUCO approves the settlement DP&L reached with PUCO staff and interested parties — including companies like Kroger and Ohio manufacturers — bills for consumers who use 1,000 kilowatt-hours of power a month will go up $2.64, officials have said.

PUCO staff has said all parties seem to be on board with the settlement agreement that was struck earlier.
“Rarely has the Public Utilities Commission of Ohio been presented with a stipulation with such breadth of support,” PUCO staff said in a filing in August.
