Company spokesman Brian Fulton said the company currently has no plans to shutter any of its 37 stores or fire workers.
“Right now everything is business as usual,” he said.
A press release said the company decided to file bankruptcy because it could not extend its line of credit agreements with its primary lender.
Fulton said a drop in sales led to the company’s financial difficulties.
“The recession just really took a toll on them,” he said.
The retailer’s board and senior management are developing a strategic plan for the company, Fulton said.
“I know they’re still in the midst of working on that,” Fulton said. “I don’t have a timeline for you per se, but that is the immediate next step.”
At the time of the filing, the company said it had $62 million in assets and $41 million in liabilities.
Old Time Pottery also operates stores in Cincinnati, Columbus and Cleveland, according to its Web site.
