Opening day today for new Miamisburg restaurant

A new sushi restaurant owned by the woman who previously operated Akashi sushi restaurant in Huber Heights for 12 years opened today, Aug. 18, at 59 Fiesta Lane near Ohio 725 and Ohio 741 and the Dayton Mall.

Ariake Sushi Bar is owned by Fumiko “Miko” Whigham, who operated Akashi Sushi Bar on Harshman Road from 2000 to 2012. Whigham said this afternoon that she sold the Huber Heights sushi restaurant with every intention to retire, but, “Two years later, I decided I needed to do something again.”

The 90-seat restaurant succeeded House of Asia, which was open for only a few months. Ariake Sushi Bar employs seven and is open seven days a week for lunch and dinner.
