‘Painting with a Twist’ poised to open in Washington Twp.

A “Painting with a Twist” studio will open its first Dayton-area franchise location on Aug. 13.

The new business at 8010 McEwen Road near Whole Foods Market will provide a “place where friends come together to paint, drink wine and discover their inner artist,” according to a company release. And it marks a continuing surge of development in the retail and commercial centers surrounding Whole Foods, which opened two months ago at the corner of Miamisburg-Centerville Road (Ohio 725) and McEwen Road.

The paint-and-sip studio is a franchise operation of Mandeville, Louisiana-based Painting with a Twist, which was founded in 2007 and operates 220 franchises in 30 states. The franchisee owner of the Washington Twp. location, Tracy Prior, could not be reached. According to a company release, Prior was introduced to Painting with a Twist through a friend who owns a studio in Mason.

A handful of similar paint-and-sip studios have opened in the Dayton region starting in early 2013.

The local Painting with a Twist studio will hire local art instructors and schedule events at which guests will paint on canvases using paint and brushes provided by the studio and while listening to music and sipping wine or beer, company officials said.

Painting with a Twist will hold scheduled class times and will offer private parties for corporate outings, bachelorette parties, sorority functions, date nights and other special events. The studio can accommodate up to 68 people, with one large studio that holds 48 and a private room that seats 20.
