Peerless Technologies lands $67M Air Force contract

Peerless Technologies of Fairborn has landed a five-year, $67.7 million contract to provide support to the F-22 Raptor, the Air Force’s most advanced operational stealth fighter jet.

The contract will employ about 60 workers at Peerless, according to Kurt Harendza, company senior vice president. The number of new employees who will be hired was not immediately available.

Peerless will provide managerial and professional services, engineering and technical advice and analysis and evaluations on the fighter jet program, he said. The contractor will work at the Air Force Life Cycle Management Center at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, which is home to the F-22 program office. Future work may include Hill Air Force Base, Utah.

“It’s work that we’re well experienced in,” Harendza said.

Peerless, which has about 230 employees, received the award as one of the firms selected through the One Acquisition Solution for Integrated Services, or OASIS program. The Air Force uses the General Services Administration contract bidding procedure to buy professional services through companies competitively chosen to participate.

The F-22 contract had at least one other bidder, according to the Department of Defense.

The new deal will subsume earlier contracts the company had with the Air Force on the F-22 program, Harendza said.

“It provides very good stability for the company without having to re-compete it on a shorter basis,” he said.

The Air Force has 183 F-22 Raptors, a stealthy jet capable of advanced maneuverability with vectored thrust and cruising beyond the speed of sound without an afterburner.
