“Ohio is, and has been since its founding, a state in change,” the site says. “We’re growing, we’re progressing, we’re constantly on the move, it seems, financially, industrially, technologically, and of course, in the work force.

“Some jobs that were popular fifty or sixty years ago are unheard of these days. Jobs that will be popular in fifty or sixty years — we may not even be able to guess,” said Zippia.

The site says it mined Department of Labor and Bureau of Labor data, relying on government projections until 2024.

Data was developed for each state individually to develop what the site called a “master database.”

The site then identified jobs in Ohio that are projected to have at least 1,000 workers in 2024 so that the jobs will still be “relevant.” That resulted in 416 occupations total in Ohio.
