Teradata acquires two “big data” firms

Miami Twp.-based Teradata Corp. announced two acquisitions Tuesday that accelerate the growth of the firm’s “big data” capabilities, according to a media release.

On July 16, Teradata acquired assets of Revelytix, a Maryland-based company that developed the Loom metadata management system. On July 17, Teradata acquired assets of Hadapt, a Massachusetts-based database software startup.

Teradata will add the employees and intellectual property of both firms to its Teradata Labs research and development division, company officials said. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

“The addition of the key assets of these companies underscores Teradata’s commitment to continued innovation and customer value, extends our big data portfolio, and enhances the Teradata Unified Data Architecture,” said Scott Gnau, Teradata Labs president, in a statement.

Teradata is an analytics, data warehousing and marketing applications and services company.
