Two buildings near each other on the Vandalia side of Stop Eight Road are seeing plenty of activity these days.

A limited liability company just bought a Stop Eight Road industrial building for more than $1.3 million.

Amcor Rigid Plastics LLC sold the building at 3435 Stop Eight to Stops LLC for $1.325 million Thursday, according to Montgomery County property records.

MOREGrants would fuel 852 new jobs

This coincides with the county’s release this week of the city of Vandalia’s application for $175,000 in county development funds to help an unnamed company refurbish and develop a nearby building, 3345 Stop Eight Road.

That development would create 44 new jobs, Vandalia said in its application for Montgomery County ED/GE (Economic Development/Government Equity) funds.

3435 Stop Eight offers 80,000 square feet of rentable space, according to property records and a real estate listing.

In the fall of 2015, Amcor Rigid Plastics bought the Eco-Groupe facility at 3435 Stop Eight for $1.8 million. However, the company ceased operations there by late 2016.

The other building, 3345 Stop 8 Road, has 220,000 square feet of space.

The 44 new jobs that could be created at 3345 would have an average salary of $41,000 and a total annual payroll of $1.8 million, Vandalia said in its ED/GE applications.
