UD has continued to acquire student housing around the school as well as develop new housing, and now about 90 percent of undergraduates live in university-owned housing.
Montgomery County property records stated the assessed value of the 1,904-square-foot home is $65,070. The seller is listed as Annstan IV LLC, which is listed with a Clayton address.
UD stated it purchased the residential property for student housing. The university said in a statement that the purchase price is reflective of the market value rather than the assessed value for property in the student neighborhoods “which is higher due to the strong student demand for University-owned housing close to campus.”
During the last decade, UD has invested more than $150 million in new construction, acquisition and renovations for more than 439 residential houses, duplexes, apartment buildings and residence halls.
The purchase comes just a few months after one of the university’s purchased the land that a popular strip mall sits on near campus for more than $2.6 million. In October, UD’s East Aqua Development II LLC purchased the two parcels of land that University Place sits on. UD already owns the shops and apartments at University Place.
