Compass Group Equity Partners — a company that includes Vandalia electronics manufacturer Manufactured Assemblies Corp. (MAC) —is unveiling a new brand, Compass Electronics Solutions.

The brand will be “the premier partner for connected device design, development, manufacturing and support for the world’s most innovative products,” the company said in a release Monday.

The brand unites the capabilities of “four of the leading contract manufacturing companies,” the equity partnership said.

Each of the four business units operating under the new brand work in electronic, connected and Internet of Things-enabled product development.

Brought together through acquisition by St. Louis-based Compass Group, the companies include: Logic PD, headquartered in Eden Prairie, Minn., as well as MAC, which has facilities in Vandalia and Atlanta. The local company is focused on cable harnesses and kiosks.

Also part of the company: Protech Global Solutions, in El Paso, Texas, and Ciudad Juárez, Mexico; and Qualitronics, based in Richmond, Ind., whose specialty is large-format cable harnesses.

“By combining these four established, well-respected electronics companies together under the (Compass) brand, we can provide OEMs (original equipment manufacturers) with an elite level of quality and service for every need they have throughout the full life-cycle of their electronic devices,” Jeff Roberts, president and chief operating officer of Compass Electronics Solutions, said in the company’s announcement.

In 2014, Manufactured Assemblies Corp. received $50,000 in Montgomery County development funds to buy 3.4 acres in Vandalia’s Stonequarry Crossings business park, adding 14,000 square feet to an existing building.

That project was expected at the time to protect 90 existing jobs and create 35 new jobs, with a payroll of $750,000.

Compass Group Equity Partners acquired MAC in June 2017.

A Compass principal said the Vandalia company has 103 employees today, and the branding change won’t impact that number.

The local company was founded in 1976 and opened its Atlanta location in 1994.
