“We’ve been in our current location since 1966,” Wagner said in announcing the new showroom in March. “We simply have outgrown the building and do not have any more room to expand.”
The dealership, which had 15 employees earlier this year, has added about five new positions, and may expand further in the months ahead, Wagner said Tuesday. The showroom opened for business on Monday.
The new Wagner Subaru is four times the size of the Fairborn location and includes expanded parking, a multi-car showroom, an increased service capacity and a larger customer-service waiting area. It also includes several eco-friendly components including LED lights inside and out, battery-operated service lifts, and a “living wall” live-plant display in the showroom.
Wagner Subaru is the 11th-oldest Subaru dealer in the U.S. The dealership traces its roots to when Wagner Auto Sales began operating out of the North Broad Street location, selling foreign cars such as Simca, Sunbeam, and Triumph. The Subaru franchise was added in 1971. Bo Wagner purchased the business from his father, Doc Wagner, in 1999, and remodeled the dealership in 2001.
The showroom and new-car dealership will host a Fairborn Area Chamber of Commerce ribbon-cutting Monday and is planning a public grand-opening event, probably sometime next spring, Wagner said.
