“Training academies are a dedicated facility where the company’s front-line supervisors will receive hands-on training that combines the classroom and the sales floor,” Walmart said in an announcement. “The training will help department managers and hourly supervisors gain both core retail skills and the skills and knowledge to run their specific department.”

The academy will serve employees from stores in Montgomery, Butler, Warren, Adams, Clermont, Darke, Hamilton, Pike and Preble counties and Northern Kentucky, the company said.

A ribbon-cutting event celebrating the opening of the academy is set for the Walmart at 8288 Cincinnati Dayton Road, in West Chester Twp., from 7:30 to 9 a.m. Thursday.
