Developers are progressing on the renovation of a former Kmart store in Beavercreek, where the Dayton area’s first At Home store will open next year.

At Home, a Texas-based home decor chain retailer, will open its first location in the old Kmart building off of Indian Ripple Road. Beavercreek Planning Commission approved the plans for the retailer to renovate the space at a meeting in August.

Associate city planner Sandra Pereira told this news organization that construction crews were making good progress on the renovation of the building — tearing down the front of the structure for renovation purposes. The former Kmart building, which has stood there for more than 40 years, has been deteriorating significantly in recent years.

This will be the first At Home location in the Dayton area. The retailer already has two locations in the Cincinnati area and another two in the Columbus area. It operates 136 stores in 33 states, and sells “home products to fit any budget or style — from sofas, dining sets, mattresses and patio furniture to lamps, pillows, kitchenware, rugs and more, plus seasonal décor that includes yard displays, lights and Christmas trees.”
