Customers will be able to use a personal teller machine with video that connects them remotely to a live teller.
The first interactive teller machines will be installed at a new branch office under construction in Springfield, which will open in February. Wright-Patt is investing approximately $2 million to build a new freestanding branch at 2097 N. Bechtle Ave. It will replace the existing nearby location at 1697 N. Bechtle Ave.
The personal teller ATMs will go in the drive-through of the Springfield location, Fors said.
Personal teller machines will also go in Wright-Patt’s 25th branch office under construction in Springboro, to open later in the spring next year, Fors said. The Springboro location will have these ATMs in the drive-through and inside the branch office.
The ATMs combine video collaboration and remote transaction-processing technology and are a product of NCR Corp. In total, Wright-Patt will test 19 interactive teller units at existing and new branch lobbies, branch drive-throughs and off-site locations.
Almost all teller transactions performed live at a branch will be possible through the new technology, such as cash transactions larger than normally allowed at an ATM, and product and sales service, NCR said.
Tellers will physically be sitting at a centralized location at Wright-Patt’s main offices off of Colonel Glenn Highway in Fairborn. That will help the credit union with more efficient scheduling, credit union officials said.
“What we liked about NCR’s solution was that it was a direct interaction with a live teller who has complete control of the ATM, rather than just verbal assistance from a remote employee,” Darrick Weeks, chief operating officer of Wright-Patt, said in a statement.
Wright-Patt Credit Union is a nonprofit financial cooperative, with 24 branch offices serving Champaign, Clark, Clinton, Greene, Hamilton, Miami, Montgomery and Warren counties. Total assets are approximately $2.4 billion. It is Ohio’s largest credit union.
