Wall of windows lights up great room
Contributing Writer
A revised A-frame contemporary home inspired by an English church is nestled along a backdrop of trees on an irregular 1.24-acre lot within the Ludlowcreek Estates of Xenia Twp.
Listed for $339,900 by Wright-Patt Realty Inc., the brick-and-stucco house at 982 Riverview Court has about 2,820 square feet of living space plus a finished basement.
Tailored landscaping surrounds the house as it has a front paver-brick patio and walkway to the formal front entry. A paved driveway with extra parking pad leads to the two-car, side-entry garage.
A wooden deck was installed in 2019 and wraps around the back of the house, and an aluminum picket fence surrounds the back yard. The side yard has a storage shed with a covered porch that overlooks the gardens and cul-de-sac neighborhood.
Formal entry opens into a two-story foyer with vinyl and hardwood flooring. Spindles accent the open staircase that ascends up to the second-level loft. Four windows accent the triangular wall space above the staircase and provide natural light into the main-level hallway and through three tall cutouts that pass through into the formal dining room.
Straight off the foyer is the great room, which has a vaulted ceiling. The back wall has six clerestory windows that provide views of the private back yard and allow the great room to be filled with natural light. A wood-burning fireplace is tucked into one corner and has a dentil mantel with granite top.
Accessible from the great room and through the formal dining room is the modified triangular-shaped kitchen. Updated with granite countertops on light cabinetry, the kitchen has two single sinks below corner windows, a buffet counter with glass-panel cabinets above, a pantry cabinet with roll-out shelves and stainless-steel appliances, including a gas range, microwave and refrigerator.
Ceramic-tile flooring fills the kitchen and continues into the circular bay-like breakfast room, which has a glass door that opens to the wooden deck.
The central hallway is accessible from the kitchen and provides access to a first-floor bedroom, a full bathroom with walk-in, ceramic-tile shower and a laundry mud room with access to a smaller side deck and the garage.
Off the hallway is a door that leads to the finished basement. The basement has carpeting, track and canister lighting. Two unfinished rooms have the home’s mechanical systems, and a third is large enough for a workshop with closets.
The open staircase from the foyer and across the hallway from the dining room leads to a loft area. The loft has a partial wall with spindle accents and a cutout that looks into the great room.
Two bedrooms and a full bath are accessible from the loft. Both bedrooms have vaulted ceilings, rear windows and triangular cutouts to allow light from the front windows. There is a walk-in closet with extra doors to floored attic storage from the loft. The full bathroom features a claw-foot tub, a corner fiberglass shower with glass doors and a single-sink vanity.
