Custom-built ranch ahead of its time with amenities

Current owners spent a lot of time planning all the details for their custom-built, brick ranch home at 595 Tallow Tree Way in Tipp City.
They worked with an experienced custom builder to include a number of their own creative ideas.
In the words of Julia Caserta, a member of the Jamie Day Team at Better Homes and Gardens Real Estate Big Hill, “The quality and the character of the home will stun you from the moment you walk in the front door. The wood throughout the house is beautiful – every piece is custom-made.
The co-owner added, “We put the best in it – all hardwood and 21,000 bricks (even the eaves are all brick).”
Surrounded by more than a half-acre setting, which includes a creek and wooded areas, this one-of-a-kind home is listed for $354,900.
Elegant double doors framed by boxed sidelights and transoms open into the central entry
under a 15-foot vaulted ceiling.
“Pella built the double doors, the windows (around them) and the casements,” said the owner. “The doors are made in seven layers with 15 raised panels in each door, and they’re all double-pane windows.”
There is an easy flow between all the gathering areas. In the great room a wall of stacked windows incorporates sliding glass doors that connect to the tiered deck. The chipped-brick-and-mortar fireplace features a herringbone pattern above the wood mantel. It’s a double-sided fireplace with its “twin” warming the den/family/TV room.
A custom -designed seated bar creates a focal point in one corner of the great room with a pass-through window to the kitchen.
A wide opening leads into the formal dining room, which boasts a deep octagonal tray ceiling framed in triple crown moldings at the ceiling. Thin moldings applied to its lower areas suggest framed panels. Inset carpeting features a contrasting border in an octagonal shape to echo the ceiling shape.
French doors open into the year-round sun room surrounded with wood-trimmed sliding windows and sliding glass doors to the deck.
Beyond the open breakfast area, the kitchen work space takes a U-shape with wrap-around counters, a center island, and cherry cabinets. Ceramic-tile backsplashes are embellished with a thin gold-flecked border. A wine bottle rack stretches above the refrigerator. Stacked wall ovens are installed near the smooth-surface cooktop. Dishwasher and porcelain double sink sit under a double window. The planning desk is built-in under the pass-through to the wet bar so its counter can double as a serving buffet.
On the opposite side of the entry, the half-bath has built-in curio shelves. Next to the guest bedroom is a full bath with a double vanity and a corner shower with a rounded glass enclosure.
Double doors open into the main bedroom suite, which has direct access to the deck, where plumbing is in place for a hot tub, if desired.
The two-room bath features an oval soaking tub angled in one corner of the first room and surrounded with ceramic tile. The double vanity has a makeup station.
Rectangular-shaped ceramic tile was recently added to the floor of the second room, which offers an oversized shower with a glass-door enclosure and an additional vanity.
The walk-in closet includes a dressing area, built-in shelves and wraparound hanging spaces.
Currently used as an office the third bedroom has a walk-in closet, also.
Caserta added, “This home has an amazing panoramic view of the rear wooded lot with a tiered, full-length deck to enjoy in summer.”
Cottonwood Creek with a sloping bank runs through the edge of the property.
“We often see deer walking along it,” said the owner.
In a clearing between clusters of cottonwood trees there is a steel-and-stone-edged fire pit that the owner designed and built.
Walls are finished in the attached, heated three-car garage, which has a built-in work counter, cabinets and access to hot-and-cold water.
“The irrigation system is fed by its own well, but we have city water in the house,” said the owner.
