Full, finished basement adds to home’s living space
Contributing Writer
A finished, full basement nearly doubles the living space of this brick-and-vinyl home located within The Trails of Shaker Run in Turtlecreek Twp.
Built in 2016, the home at 1872 Red Sage Court has about 3,800 square feet of living space, including the basement, which enhances the open concept design featured on the main level.
The house, listed for $379,900 by Berkshire Hathaway Home Services Professional Realty, is located within a planned community that allows for the use of a swimming pool, playground, walking trails and common areas.
The front door opens into a foyer that is open to the dining room, guest bedroom hallway and flows into the great room and kitchen. A cathedral ceiling adds to the openness as it peaks over the great room and kitchen. A pillar offsets the dining room from the foyer and cross-beams outline the formal space but allows for the peak ceiling. The dining room could be used as a music room or sitting room.
Wood-plank flooring fills the entire main social areas, starting within the foyer and continuing into the hallways that lead to the bedrooms and into the combined great room and kitchen.
A table-like island divides the kitchen from the great room as the island provides seating for four and has a stainless-steel sink, storage and the dishwasher on the kitchen side. Mosaic-glass tiles accent the wall space between the dark cabinets and granite countertops along one wall. The cabinetry and countertops surround the appliances, which include a gas cooktop and double wall ovens.
Off the kitchen, the bay bump-out creates a breakfast room, which has patio doors that open to the back yard. There is also a pantry closet off the breakfast room.
A gas fireplace with fluted wood mantel and granite hearth is tucked into one corner of the great room, and there are three windows to allow for plenty of natural light.
Two bedrooms and a full bathroom are tucked off a short hallway from the foyer. The bedrooms mirror each other in size with one having a step-in closet and the other having a sliding door closet. The bath has a ceramic-tile surround tub/shower and a single sink vanity.
Off the dining room is a short hallway that leads to the laundry room, which has access to the oversized, two-car garage. Across the hallway from the laundry room is the main bedroom, which has a bay bump-out design for a sitting area.
The private bathroom features a double-sink vanity, a walk-in shower with multiple shower heads, subway tile, mosaic-glass accents and glass surround. There is a walk-in closet, linen closet and wood-grain ceramic-tile flooring.
A door next to the main bedroom entrance opens to the hidden stairwell to the basement, which has been finished. The staircase ends within the recreation room with pillar accents and carpeting. Double doors located in one corner open into a possible media room. The basement has been pre-wired for a home theater system.
To the left off the staircase is the entrance to a possible fourth bedroom, which has an egress window and a walk-in closet that passes through to a private entrance to the full bath. The bathroom has a zero-entry, walk-in shower with ceramic-tile surround and sliding glass doors. There is a single-sink within a bureau vanity and ceramic-tile flooring. The bath is also accessible from a hallway, which has a wall of closets.
Other features include a smart house thermostat and a home security system.
