Local industry gives your old boxes, string lights and Christmas trees new life

Charlie Burke, a World War II veteran and resident of Patriot Ridge Nursing Home in Fairborn, was presented with a medallion minted in honor of veterans of World War II. The Greene County Veterans Services Office and State Rep. Rick Perales, R-Beavercreek presented five World War II veterans with the medallions at a presentation at the nursing home Wednesday. The medallions were minted in honor and remembrance of veterans of WWII by the Non Commissioned Officers Association. The second annual veterans summit meeting in Greene County will be held tonight from 6-8 p.m. at 571 Ledbetter Rd. in Xenia. Representatives from veterans organizations, including the Dayton VA, will be on hand to answer veterans questions and make them aware of benefits they may not know about. LISA POWELL / STAFF
