An 83-year-old Franklin man is headed to prison after pleading guilty in a child sex case.

James Richard Engbloom was sentenced by Warren County Common Pleas Judge Timothy Tepe to 24 months, or two years, in prison after he pleaded guilty Monday to one count of gross sexual imposition.

Engbloom was accused of having sexual conduct and sexual contact on multiple occasions with children younger than 13 between 1997 and 2005, according to the Warren County Prosecutor’s Office.

He was indicted in July by a grand jury on four counts of rape and two counts of gross sexual imposition, all felony charges. However, all but one of the gross sexual imposition charges were dismissed, court records show.

He also was designated a sexually oriented offender and child-victim offender and must register his address annually for 10 years. The designation does not fall under the tier registry system because the time of the offense was prior to the Adam Walsh Act, according to the Warren County Prosecutor’s Office.
