Darke County Sheriff Mark Whittaker identified Uchyn as a person of interest in a double homicide investigation around noon on Friday. The office said that it was notified of the arrest at 9:15 p.m.
The Darke County Sheriff’s Office thanked police in Chicago and Elmhurst, Illinois, for their assistance in apprehending Uchyn.
Deputies found a man and woman dead early Friday morning when they responded to a house in the 4200 block of Weavers-Fort Jefferson Road in Neave Twp. after two women came in to the sheriff’s office just before 5 a.m. to report the deaths.
The names of the victims have not been released.
Uchyn lives in the house where the double homicide occurred, the sheriff said, and fled in a white 2022 Chevrolet Equinox.
The sheriff’s office said that the case is still early in its investigation and updates would be provided as the case progresses.
