A Dayton man accused of recording sex acts with a 15-year-old and then threatening her has been sentenced to prison.

Steven McArthur Moreland Jr., 22, was sentenced by Montgomery County Common Pleas Judge Mary Wiseman to a total of two to three years in prison and was found to be a Tier II sexual offender, meaning he will have to register his address every 180 days for 25 years.

At the time of writing, Moreland was in the Montgomery County Jail.

The investigation into Moreland began in July 2024 when the teen reported she had sex with Moreland multiple times, and that he threatened to release videos of it and kill her, according to Dayton Municipal Court records.

“She’s seen him with a small black and silver handgun,” an affidavit read. “He’s played with that gun while being drunk.”

A search warrant served at Moreland’s residence recovered his cellphone, which reportedly had two videos downloaded on it that showed sexual content. The girl identified herself in the videos, court documents said.
