Dayton police responding to a suspected overdose on March 13, 2021, at the intersection of Watts Street and Burkhart Avenue found Crider — who had a warrant for theft of a firearm and grand theft auto — inside the stolen Jaguar. The pink revolver was found under the driver’s seat where Crider had been sitting, and DNA testing confirmed Crider’s DNA on the weapon, according to court documents.
Crider pleaded guilty in July 2022.
He has prior convictions for robbery resulting in injury and aggravated robbery with a deadly weapon, both felony offenses that prohibit him from lawfully possessing firearms, the release stated.
This sentence will be served after he is released from his current imprisonment out of Shelby County, where he was sentenced to 2½ years in prison for spitting on a corrections officer when he knew he was hepatitis C positive, according to the release.
