On April 21, Crane instructed the 90‐year‐old female victim to get out of bed, although she was unable to do so on her own, the release said. Crane returned to the woman’s room a short time later and yelled at her, grabbed her arms and jerked her to a seated position, according to the release.
When crane returned to the elderly woman’s home a third time and she was still in bed, Crane violently jerked her into a standing position, resulting in the woman’s neck pain and several large bruises on her forearms, the release said.
Crane was indicted Monday on one count of patient abuse. She is scheduled to be arraigned at 8:30 a.m. July 13.
“Abusing senior citizens, some of the most vulnerable citizens in our community, is bad enough, but when the abuser is employed specifically to care for the elderly, it is especially troubling,” Montgomery County Prosecutor Mat Heck said. “We take these allegations very seriously, and we will hold abusers accountable. We all need to protect the elders in our community and keep them safe.”
