Man, woman ID’d in deadly drive-by shooting early New Year’s Day in Dayton

A man and a woman who died after a reported drive-by shooting early New Year’s Day in Dayton have been identified.

Taronn Pate, 23, and Toni Owensby, 22, were pronounced dead at the scene, according to Montgomery County Coroner Dr. Kent Harshbarger.

Dayton police are continuing to investigate their deaths.

According to Montgomery County Regional Dispatch Center records, the shooting was reported at 3:21 a.m. in the 1100 block of Dennison Avenue.

In a 911 call, a person said that they saw a vehicle that had been shot and two people inside that appeared to be dead.
