Security officers cleared the building of unwanted people before officers arrived. However, several Dayton officers remained in the parking lot to maintain a presence to hopefully deter further incidents, according to a statement from the Dayton Police Department regarding the incident.
After the game, multiple juveniles began fighting in the parking lot, when officers intervened and requested backup due to the size of the disturbance.
As of 10:50 p.m., as many as 18 police units were on scene, according to Montgomery County Regional Dispatch Center records.
Once the fight was stopped, eight girls were arrested and charged with riot, police said.
“The initial investigation revealed this fight was the result of an ongoing situation between the involved juveniles,” the statement read.
