A SWAT standoff lasting several hours Friday at an apartment building locked down a school and closed a main intersection in Trotwood.

The standoff ended shortly before 4 p.m. at the apartments on Bellcreek Lane in the 3000 block of Shiloh Springs Road, which was blocked at Olive Road.

The U.S. Marshals Service and Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office were among several law enforcement jurisdictions on scene that could be heard using a bullhorn to order the suspect to come out, telling him there was a warrant for his arrest.

Law enforcement also flew drones over the area and into the apartment.

At one point smoke was coming from the apartment and crews trained a hose on a window.

Trotwood, Englewood and Dayton police departments also responded.

The incident began around 1:25 p.m., according to the Montgomery County Regional Dispatch Center.

We are working to learn more details, such as whether there were any injuries reported to officers or the suspect, why there was a warrant for the suspect’s arrest and what specifically led to a SWAT team response.
