A 15-year-old who was shot Wednesday afternoon in Dayton was taken to the hospital in non-life-threatening condition.

Emergency crews responded to the 2700 block of Madden Hills Drive at 3:33 p.m. on a report of a possible shooting, according to the Montgomery County Regional Dispatch Center.

The shooting victim called 911 and told dispatchers there was a fight and the people involved pulled out guns.

The caller said he was not involved in the fight and didn’t know the people involved.

“A second juvenile who was walking with the victim was nearly struck by the gunfire,” said Dayton police Lt. Steve Bauer. “The victim was taken to Miami Valley Hospital and is listed in non-life threatening condition.”

Dayton police’s Violent Offender Unit is investigating the shooting, which took place immediately south of Wogaman Middle School, just off Germantown Street in the Madden Hills neighborhood.
